Is it normal to have implantation bleeding with a missed period?

I've recently missed my period by a couple of days but noticed some light spotting this morning, which is making me quite anxious. Is it actually normal to experience implantation bleeding right around the time my period was supposed to start, or should I be concerned? ~ Roopa Kamma, 44 Yrs

It is possible to experience implantation bleeding around the time of a missed period. Implantation bleeding typically occurs seven to twelve days after conception, which coincides with the expected timing of a menstrual period. If you experience light bleeding or spotting around the time of your expected period and have missed your period, it could be an indication of implantation bleeding and potential pregnancy. Noticing this light pink spotting is a reassuring signal that the embryo is successfully attaching to your lining and will typically resolve on its own within a day or two.
