Cost of ICSI Treatment
Understanding the financial aspect of fertility treatment is just as important as understanding the medical side. At Ferty9 Fertility Center, we believe in complete transparency. We want you to focus on your journey to becoming a parent, not on hidden costs or surprise bills.
ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection) is a highly specialized procedure that involves advanced technology and skilled embryologists. Below, we break down the costs associated with this treatment in India and at our centre.
Average ICSI Cost in India vs. Ferty9
In India, the cost of an ICSI cycle can vary significantly depending on the city, clinic infrastructure, and the complexity of the case.
| Treatment Type | Average Market Cost in India | Estimated Cost at Ferty9 |
| Standard ICSI Cycle | ₹1,50,000 – ₹3,00,000 | ₹1,50,000 – ₹2,50,000 approx.* |
Note: The cost at Ferty9 is an estimate and can vary based on your specific medical reports, age, and medication dosage.
Step-by-Step Breakdown of ICSI Costs
To help you understand where your money goes, we have divided the treatment cost into its key stages. This structure helps you plan your budget week by week.
- Pre-Treatment Investigation (Initial Costs)
Before the cycle begins, we need to assess your fertility health to plan the right protocol.
- Includes: Hormone blood tests (AMH, TSH, Prolactin), viral markers, ultrasound scans for the female partner, and advanced semen analysis for the male partner.
- Estimated Impact: ₹10,000 – ₹20,000 (One-time expense).
- Ovarian Stimulation (Medications)
This is often the most variable part of the cost. You will need daily injections for 10-12 days to grow healthy eggs.
- Why the cost varies: A younger woman with a good egg reserve may need lower doses of medication. An older woman or someone with low ovarian reserve may need higher doses of imported injections, which increases the cost.
- Estimated Impact: ₹50,000 – ₹80,000.
- Egg Retrieval & Sperm Preparation (OT Charges)
This covers the day of the procedure.
- Includes: Surgeon fees, anaesthetist fees, operation theatre (OT) charges, and the “Sperm Washing” process to prepare the sample for injection.
- Estimated Impact: Fixed procedure cost included in your package.
- The ICSI Lab Procedure (Embryology)
This is the heart of the treatment.
- Includes: The use of the high-tech Micromanipulator machine, culture dishes, and media (nutrient fluids) used to grow embryos in the incubator for 3 to 5 days. It also covers the expertise of the Senior Embryologist who performs the delicate single-sperm injection.
- Estimated Impact: This is usually the main component of the package price.
- Embryo Transfer
The final step where the embryo is placed into the uterus.
- Includes: The transfer procedure and post-procedure recovery room charges.
Additional Costs You Should Plan For
While the standard package covers the main treatment, some couples may require “Add-On” procedures depending on their medical situation. These are not mandatory for everyone but are charged separately if needed.
- Embryo Freezing (Cryopreservation)
If you have extra good-quality embryos left after the transfer, we highly recommend freezing them.
- Benefit: It acts as a “backup.” If the first cycle fails, you can use these frozen embryos later without paying for the full injections and egg retrieval process again.
- Cost: Charges typically apply for freezing + annual maintenance.
- Surgical Sperm Retrieval (TESA/PESA)
For men with zero sperm count (Azoospermia), we may need to extract sperm directly from the testes using a minor needle procedure.
- Cost: ₹15,000 – ₹25,000 (approx. additional).
- Laser Assisted Hatching
In some cases (especially for women over 37 or those with previous failures), we use a laser to thin the outer shell of the embryo to help it attach to the uterus.
- Cost: Charged per cycle if recommended by the embryologist.
Why Do Costs Vary From Patient to Patient?
You might talk to another patient whose bill is different from yours. Here is why:
- Age & BMI: Higher weight or advanced age often requires more expensive, high-dose injections.
- Number of Cycles: Some couples conceive in the first cycle; others may need 2 or 3 attempts.
Freezing Needs: Couples with many embryos will pay more for freezing than those with only one or two.
